Game rules
At the beginning of the game, each player receives 6 large metaphorical cards and 6 square word cards. The object images stay down on the table and available to everyone.
After each round (when all players have taken a turn), each player takes one more metaphorical card to always have 6.
The 6 word cards stay with you throughout the game.
Gameplay
The first player places one of the metaphorical cards face up on the table, and invents a story based on an image. You can base your story on the overall scene of the card, a specific detail, an image, or an association. The second player places the next card and continues the story logically, and so on. You can play without limits until all the cards run out, or you can set rules, for example, each story should consist of only 12 cards.
What to Do with the Square Word Cards?
Each player’s goal is to get rid of these cards during the game. When you tell your part of the story, you should place a word card on top of your metaphorical card and must include that word in your story. For example, if your story takes place in a palace and your word card says “battle,” you must include a fight or war in your narrative.
What are the cards with objects for?
If you're ready to play your next metaphorical card but feel like something is missing from the story, you can take an object image from the table and add it to the previous player’s card. For example, if the previous card shows a scene in the forest, but you feel the story needs a witch’s hat to move forward, just place the image next to your metaphorical card and include it in your narrative.
Optional Rules
You can change a few rules if you wish. For example, before taking a turn, a player may offer to trade one card with another player, if the other agrees. You can replay this game many times, slightly changing the rules to suit your preferences. The game offers endless opportunities for creativity — that’s its greatest strength!
If some cards are lost, it's not a problem, the content of the game will not suffer.
